law since 1992. Prior to starting his own law practice, Michael J. Karlan spent
three years at Covington & Burling, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious
law firms. He also spent two years clerking for the Honorable Julian I . Jacobs,
a highly-respected Federal Judge. And he spent a year at the Office of Chief Counsel
of the Internal Revenue Service, where he served as the principal drafter of regulations
affecting millions of taxpayers. Michael
J. Karlan graduated with honors from Columbia Law School. He holds a bachelor's
degree in business administration (emphasis in accounting) from the University
of Colorado, where he was valedictorian of his graduating class. He holds an advanced
degree in tax law from New York University School of Law. Michael J. Karlan regularly
speaks on legal panels and teaches seminars for individuals and small businesses.
